Dr. Michelle Hartman is an Associate Professor and Nursing Program Director at Meredith College. Previously, she served as Assistant Dean for the ABSN Program at Duke University School of Nursing (DUSON), where she focused on student success and health equity. She holds a DNP from Case Western Reserve University and BSN/MSN from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her expertise spans pediatric nursing, community health, and innovative teaching methods like Team-Based Learning.
Research interests emphasize health equity, community partnerships, and clinical education. She has developed programs addressing public housing health challenges and pandemic-era nursing education. Awards include Duke’s Sustainability Leadership Award (2014) and repeated Excellence in Mentoring (2016, 2019).
Advancing nursing education, she pioneered Meredith’s undergraduate nursing program and led initiatives like the Flu Fighter vaccination campaign (2013). Her work bridges clinical practice, pedagogy, and global health through partnerships in Malawi and North Carolina.
