Michelle Chen

Michele Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication, Popular Culture and Film at Brock University. She holds a Ph.D. and MA from the University of Minnesota, and a BA from the National University of Singapore. Her research focuses on the intersection of social media technologies with social movements, civic engagement, and political participation. She teaches courses in social media, business communication, and new media literacy.

Research interests include digitally enabled social movements, advocacy strategies for social issues, and the role of media in political participation. She has published in leading journals such as New Media & Society and International Journal of Communication.
