Michele Mioni is a contemporary historian and researcher at the Department of Comparative Linguistic and Cultural Studies at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. He holds a joint doctorate from the IMT School of Advanced Studies (Lucca) and the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and has held academic affiliations at institutions including the Centre d'histoire sociale des mondes contemporains (CHS, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), Forschungszentrum Ungleichheit und Sozialpolitik (SOCIUM, Universität Bremen), and Europa-Universität Viadrina (Frankfurt an der Oder). He has taught at multiple universities across Europe and been a visiting scholar in Denmark, France, and Germany.
His research focuses on social policy from global, transnational, and comparative perspectives, with emphasis on the intersection of welfare systems, war, and European integration. He has explored the role of trade unions in shaping social security and political thought in Italy and France, and currently investigates Cold War-era (post-)colonial contexts and healthcare histories.
