Michele Holt

Michele Holt is an Assistant Professor of Nursing, Director of the BSN Program, and Chair of the Department of Nursing at Concord University’s College of Science, Mathematics, and Health. Her career spans academic leadership and clinical experience, including roles as Associate Dean of Nursing and Professor at Florida State College at Jacksonville, and nursing roles at Ascension St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Central Florida (2022), a Master of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University (2017), and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State College at Jacksonville (2015).

Holt’s research focuses on nursing history and patient safety, with contributions to the Patient Safety Movement Foundation. Her published work explores the historical and religious roots of modern nursing practices, including chapters on Florence Nightingale, Vincent de Paul, and the founding of humanitarian organizations like the Red Cross and Missionaries of Charity. She is also the editor of the forthcoming Historical Encyclopedia of Nursing (2026, Bloomsbury Press).

Her professional service includes leadership in nursing education and patient safety advocacy.
