Michel de Mathelin is a Professor at the University of Strasbourg and Director of the ICube Laboratory (UMR CNRS 7357) since 2013. He leads the robotics research team (AVR) and serves as head of robotics research at the Institut de Recherche sur les Cancers de l'Appareil Digestif (IRCAD) for 15 years. Since 2017, he has been Vice-President for Innovation and Technology Transfer at the University of Strasbourg. His roles include coordinating the national Robotex robotics platform (2011) and co-founding Axilum Robotics, specializing in medical robotics for transcranial magnetic stimulation. He previously served as Scientific Delegate of CNRS-INSIS (2012–2014).
