Michel DELFOUR

Michel Delfour is a Full Professor at the Université de Montréal's Department of Mathematics and Statistics, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. He is a Guggenheim, Killam, and SIAM Fellow, and recipient of the Urgel-Archambault Prize for Physics, Mathematics, and Engineering (1995). His research focuses on optimization and control of shapes/geometries, differential systems, and applications in biomedical engineering (e.g., stent design, drug release dynamics) and telecommunication systems (e.g., frequency assignment methods).

• Research Interests: Shape optimization, control theory, numerical analysis, mathematical modeling in cardiology, and asymptotic shells.
• Affiliations: Member of the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) and leader/co-investigator in strategic research projects (e.g., CRM 2022–2029).

He has supervised over 15 graduate students, including works on stent-polymer modeling, image processing, and optimal control of differential systems. Awards include the 2003 Guggenheim Fellowship for research on thin shells. Active in grants from NSERC, FRQNT, and other Canadian agencies.
