Michel Callon is a Professor of Sociology at the École des Mines de Paris and an Honorary Member of the institution. He served as Director of the Centre for the Sociology of Innovation (1982–1994) and Chairman of the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) (1998–1999). A co-founder of Actor-Network Theory (ANT) alongside Bruno Latour and John Law, Callon's work examines the interplay between science, technology, and society.
His research spans anthropology of science/technology, socio-economics of innovation, science-technology-democracy dynamics, scientometrics, market anthropology, and medical sociology. He has collaborated closely with Bruno Latour, notably in exploring ANT and its applications to understanding societal and technological networks.
