Michał Olszanowski

Michał Olszanowski, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at SWPS University's Faculty of Psychology in Warsaw, affiliated with the Department of Cognitive Psychology, Development and Education and the Center for Research on the Biological Basis of Social Behavior. His research focuses on facial perception, emotional mimicry, and their roles in interpersonal communication and social judgments.

He investigates how people extract information from faces, assess the accuracy of social inferences, and studies memory distortions linked to emotional states. At SWPS University, he teaches cognitive psychology, psychology of emotions, and facial perception.

As Principal Investigator, he led a National Science Centre (NCN)-funded project on emotional mimicry in social contexts, examining facial feedback mechanisms and negative emotion imitation. His publications appear in journals like the Journal of Cognitive Psychology.
