Michaela Medved

Dr. Michaela Medved is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Yeshiva University’s Katz School of Science and Health. She holds a PhD in Social Welfare from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work and a Doctor of Clinical Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. Her research focuses on swallowing disorders in Parkinson’s disease, child welfare, and the application of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) and surface electromyography (sEMG) in clinical settings.

Research Interests: Dr. Medved’s work bridges clinical practice and interdisciplinary research. She specializes in dysphagia intervention for neurological disorders, particularly Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis, and advocates for improved mandated reporting in child welfare. Her innovative use of NMES and sEMG has been showcased in keynotes and international training sessions.

Presentations and Publications: Her peer-reviewed articles and conference presentations address legal and medical challenges in child welfare, dysphagia management, and the role of technology in rehabilitation. Notable talks include invited keynotes at Hygeia Hospital (Greece) and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Teaching and Mentoring: Dr. Medved teaches courses such as Clinical Case Conference and Diagnostic Methods, and mentors graduate clinicians in their externship experiences. She emphasizes hands-on training and ethical practice in patient care.
