Michael Womack

Michael Womack is an Assistant Professor of Music & Musical Theatre and Director of Theatre at Southern Arkansas University (SAU), located in Magnolia, Arkansas. He holds roles as a collaborative pianist, vocal coach, and music director. His primary affiliations include the Liberal & Performing Arts school and the Department of Music & Musical Theatre, with offices at Brinson Art Building (BAB) 201 and Harton Theatre (HRT) 228.

• MM in Collaborative Piano, Baylor University
• B.M. in Church Music, Southwest Baptist University

Research & Performance Focus: Dedicated to chamber music, musical theatre song cycles, and the works of Stephen Sondheim. He champions new music, having premiered works like John Ervin Brooks’ 7 Deadly Signs of Love and J. Todd Frazier’s Breath of Life. Active in vocal coaching, his students have excelled in competitions such as the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.

Collaborations: Serves as pianist for the Arkansas Intercollegiate Choir and Southwest Arkansas Chamber Singers. Co-founder of the Trescendo Trio, a flute-saxophone-piano ensemble.

Teaching Philosophy: Emphasizes holistic student development, integrating physical and emotional well-being with musical training. Focuses on critical thinking and cultural context in coursework.
