Michael Wilson

Michael Wilson is a Research Fellow and PhD Candidate at The University of Melbourne, affiliated with Orygen, a youth mental health research organization. His work focuses on men's mental health, suicide prevention, and the impact of relationship breakdown on mental health outcomes.

Research Interests: Michael investigates healthy masculinities, emotional distress in young men, training for mental health practitioners, and risk/protective factors for suicidal behaviors. His current research examines suicide risk during intimate partner relationship breakdown.

Publications: His recent article highlights the disproportionate suicide risks for separated men, emphasizes cultural norms around emotional suppression, and identifies interventions like peer support and mental health practitioner training.
