Michael Watson

Michael Watson is an Associate Professor of Instruction at Northwestern University's McCormick School of Engineering, specializing in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences. He has been affiliated with Northwestern since 1999 as an adjunct professor and transitioned to full-time faculty in Fall 2023. His research focuses on AI frameworks, supply chain analytics, optimization, and operations. He co-founded Opex Analytics, a prominent AI and optimization firm, and previously led LogicTools, acquired by IBM. Watson contributes to the Master of Science in Machine Learning and Data Science and Master of Engineering Management programs. He teaches courses like Supply Chain Modeling and Optimization, emphasizing industry-relevant applications. His work includes high-impact projects with organizations such as Lurie Children’s Hospital, UPS, and Ferrara Candy Company.
