About
Michael Walker is an Associate Teaching Professor and Director of the Energy Engineering Minor at the University of Colorado Boulder. He is affiliated with the Department of Mechanical Engineering within the College of Engineering and Applied Science. His teaching responsibilities include courses such as MCEN 3032: Thermo 2, MCEN 4032: Sustainable Energy, and ENEN 4600: Energy Engineering Projects.
His research interests focus on the energy-water nexus, thermoelectric power plants, gasification, carbon capture, industrial steam systems, and engineering education innovation. Notably, he has published work on industrial steam systems and wastewater utilization in power plants.
Walker has received prestigious awards including the 2019 Environmental Engineering Faculty Appreciation Award and the 2017 John and Mercedes Peebles Innovation in Education Award. He currently directs the Energy Engineering Minor program and contributes to curricular development in sustainable energy systems.
He is not currently conducting active research and does not accept graduate student applications.
