Michael Troilo

Dr. Michael Troilo is an Ordinary Professor of Strategy, Management, and Operations at the Busch School of Business, Catholic University of America. Previously, he held the Chapman Professorship in International Business and Finance at the University of Tulsa, where he received the Outstanding Teacher Award (2023), the university's highest faculty honor. His research focuses on entrepreneurship, economic development in China, and the Asia-Pacific region. He has consulted for UN agencies, the Asian Development Bank, and the Legatum Institute. Troilo holds a Ph.D. in business economics from the University of Michigan, an MBA and MA in East Asian Studies from the University of Virginia, and a BBA in accounting from the College of William and Mary. He is a licensed CPA in Virginia.

His career includes roles as a senior auditor at Arthur Andersen, cost accountant at IBM Microelectronics, and financial analyst for high-tech ventures. He coaches student entrepreneurs and has published nearly 60 academic works. His expertise spans strategy, finance, and management, with a strong international focus. Troilo’s awards reflect his teaching excellence and contributions to economic development initiatives globally.

Key areas of research include entrepreneurship ecosystems in emerging markets, the role of international organizations in economic growth, and policy frameworks supporting SMEs.
