Michael Topf

Michael Topf, MD, MSCI is an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he joined in 2020 after completing a fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. His clinical practice focuses on treating benign and malignant head and neck lesions, including transoral robotic surgery (TORS).

• Education: B.S. from Villanova University (2010), MD from University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry (2014), and MSCI from Vanderbilt University (2023).

Dr. Topf's research centers on augmented/mixed reality surgery and 3D scanning to enhance communication between surgeons and pathologists. His recent work explores HPV-related biomarkers, radiation therapy delays, molecular imaging, and cost optimization in clinical trials.

He directs the newly established Head and Neck Surgical Oncology Research Fellowship (12-month clinical research program) and participates in clinical trials for head and neck cancer treatments. Notable publications from 2025 address topics like non-FDG-avid metastasis detection, surgical oncology techniques, and mental health in postoperative patients.
