Michael T. Yen

Michael T. Yen, M.D., is a Professor and holds the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Chair in Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine. He serves as Vice-Chair of Clinical Affairs, Medical Director of the Alkek Eye Center, and Co-Director of BCM Aesthetics. His clinical expertise spans oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and face, with a focus on cosmetic procedures, lacrimal system disorders, and thyroid eye disease. Dr. Yen completed his MD at the University of Michigan and residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, followed by a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery.

Educations: MD from University of Michigan (1996), BS from University of Miami (1992), Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management from Rice University (2007).

Research Interests: Dr. Yen’s work centers on eyelid and orbital surgery, including botulinum toxin applications, facial fillers, and surgical innovations in aesthetic and reconstructive oculofacial procedures. His research emphasizes minimizing complications in filler use, improving ptosis repair outcomes, and advancing corneal neurotization techniques.

Awards: Recipient of multiple honors, including the Senior Achievement Award (2013), ASOPRS Research Award (2019), and teaching awards from Baylor College of Medicine.

Grants & Advising: Principal Investigator in clinical trials, with over 150 peer-reviewed publications and four authored books. He oversees the ASOPRS Fellowship Program, fostering future leaders in oculoplastic surgery.
