Michael Staunton

Michael Staunton is Professor of Medieval History at University College Dublin, specializing in historical writing, biography, and hagiography of medieval England. His research centers on Thomas Becket's biographers, Angevin historiography, and the intersection of sanctity and politics.

Major Publications: Authored The Historians of Angevin England (Oxford, 2017) and critical editions of Becket's biographies. Forthcoming biography Thomas Becket and His World examines Becket's life in twelfth-century context.

Honors: Government of Ireland Senior Research Fellow (2008) and visiting professorships at Fordham University and Bard College. Teaches medieval survey courses and doctoral writing seminars.
