About
Professor Michael Shaver is Professor of Polymer Science at the University of Manchester's School of Natural Sciences. He directs university-wide sustainability initiatives through Sustainable Futures and leads the Sustainable Materials Innovation Hub, focusing on renewable polymers and circular economy solutions for plastics. His research spans fundamental monomer design and applied packaging solutions.
His expertise includes developing degradable and chemically recyclable materials. Previously, he held positions at the University of Edinburgh and University of Prince Edward Island after completing his PhD at University of British Columbia and an NSERC fellowship at Imperial College London.
Honors include Fellowship of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM).
