Michael Rowe

Dr. Michael Rowe is a Reader in European History at King’s College London since 2017. He specializes in the history of France and Germany, focusing on nationalism, the French Revolution, Napoleonic Wars, and the interplay of religion and state. His research examines state formation and nationalism in 18th- and 19th-century Europe. He holds a PhD from Cambridge University and has been a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society since 2004.

Key affiliations include the Sir Michael Howard Centre for the History of War, Centre for German Transnational Relations, and Empires and Decolonizations Research Hub. His recent publications analyze Napoleonic governance, religious policies in wartime, and transnational nation-building.
