Michael Rothberg is the 1939 Society Samuel Goetz Chair in Holocaust Studies, Professor of English and Comparative Literature at UCLA, and affiliate of the Alan D. Leve Center for Jewish Studies. He previously held positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Miami.
Education: PhD in Comparative Literature (1995) from CUNY; M.Phil. (1994); B.A. with Highest Honors in English and Linguistics from Swarthmore College (1988).
Research Interests:
- Memory Studies, focusing on multidirectional memory frameworks
- Intersection of Holocaust studies with postcolonial and decolonial theory
- Literary and cultural theory applied to historical trauma
