Michael Roderick

Michael Roderick is a Research Fellow at the Australian National University with a joint appointment between the Research School of Earth Sciences and the Research School of Biology. His work bridges environmental physics, climate science, and ecological dynamics through interdisciplinary research.

• Education: Bachelor of Applied Science in Surveying (Queensland University of Technology, 1984); Post Graduate Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (University of Queensland, 1990); PhD in Satellite Remote Sensing and Environmental Modelling (Curtin University, 1994).

His research focuses on the interconnectedness of water, energy, and carbon cycles, ecohydrology, and remote sensing applications to climate change. He has pioneered international collaborations, including organizing the 2004 Australian Academy of Science meeting on evaporative demand decline and advising the U.S. National Science Foundation's Ecohydrology program. As an associate editor of Water Resources Research, he contributes to advancing hydrological science.
