About
Michael Pisaric is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. His research examines climate change impacts on subarctic and subalpine ecosystems using paleoecological approaches including dendrochronology, fossil pollen analysis, and charcoal sediment records.
Dr. Pisaric earned his doctorate from Queen's University following graduate work at McMaster University and Brock University. His fieldwork spans northern Canada, former Soviet Union regions, and mountain ecosystems of western North America.
Research focuses on treeline dynamics, boreal fire history, and climate-vegetation interactions. Publications demonstrate expertise in dendroclimatological techniques for reconstructing historical climate patterns and assessing ecosystem responses to environmental change.
Current teaching responsibilities include biogeography and advanced landscape ecology courses. Pisaric's work contributes to understanding long-term climate variability and its ecological consequences in sensitive northern environments.
