Michael Petersen

Michael Petersen serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). He is affiliated with the STEM Education Research Center (FNUG), contributing to research and development in science education across the Nordic region.

Dr. Petersen's research focuses on science education, with particular emphasis on physics education, chemistry education, and innovative STEM teaching methodologies. His work addresses challenges in natural science instruction across various educational levels, investigating effective teaching strategies, curriculum development, and student engagement in scientific subjects. His research bridges theoretical frameworks with practical classroom applications to enhance science learning experiences.

As an active researcher at FNUG, he participates in multiple projects including CCN (Connected Classrooms Nordic Study), LabSTEM, My Digital Competency Portfolio, Science Education Hub STEPS, LAVIN, and NAVADA Scientific Literacy in Early Childhood Education. His collaborative work extends to partnerships with educational institutions across Denmark and the Nordic countries.

Dr. Petersen contributes to teacher training programs and educational development initiatives, working closely with schools, educators, and policymakers to translate research findings into practical teaching approaches. His work supports the development of evidence-based practices in science education that address contemporary educational challenges.
