Michael P. Lawlor serves as Acting Associate Dean and Associate Professor at the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences, University of New Haven. With a J.D. from George Washington University, M.A. from University of London, and B.A. from University of Connecticut, his expertise focuses on criminal justice policy reforms including juvenile justice, bail reform, drug policy, gun control legislation, and addressing racial disparities in the criminal justice system.
His research examines criminal justice reforms for young adults (18-21), prosecutor categorization systems, and alternative sanctions for low-level offenders. Lawlor's policy work contributed to Connecticut's 41% arrest reduction (2008-2017) and 65% decrease in youth incarceration.
Lawlor serves on New Haven's Board of Police Commissioners and Connecticut's Police Officer Standards and Training Council. He teaches Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Evidence courses.
