Michael P. Cary, PhD, RN, is an Associate Professor at Duke University School of Nursing, where he joined the faculty in August 2012. He holds a PhD from the University of Virginia School of Nursing, an MSN and BSN from the University of Virginia, and a BS in Health Services Administration from James Madison University with minors in Business Administration and Health Information Systems.
His research focuses on rehabilitation outcomes, coordinated care models, and comparative effectiveness of post-acute care settings, particularly for geriatric populations. Key interests include quality measurement in rehabilitation, Medicare patient outcomes, and health systems management.
Dr. Cary teaches "Nursing Care of Older Adults and Their Families" in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program. His doctoral research was funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), establishing the foundation for ongoing work in rehabilitation quality metrics.
