Michael Oborne

Dr. Michael Oborne is a Fellow at Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, and a member of the Las Casas Institute’s Advisory Board. He previously served as Director of the Las Casas Institute (2011–2013) and held senior roles at the OECD, including Director of Multi-Disciplinary Issues and Deputy Director of the Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry.

• Education: University of California at Berkeley (BA, MA, PhD), Cambridge University (Ford Foundation Fellow), University of Paris Sorbonne, Ecole des Hautes Etudes (DEA), Ecole Normale Supérieure.

Research Interests: Dr. Oborne’s work spans science policy, information technologies, biotechnology, and multidisciplinary studies on structural adjustment, with a focus on the Pacific region and China.

Academic Roles: He has held professorships at institutions such as Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Economique in Paris, the University of Paris IX, and served as a Senior Fulbright Professor at the University of Milan.
