Michael Nebeling is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan's School of Information (UMSI), leading the Information Interaction Lab. His research focuses on Augmented, Virtual, and Mixed Reality (XR) interfaces, emphasizing usability, accessibility, and privacy. He co-directs the HCI seminar series in the Michigan Interactive and Social Computing (MISC) group and teaches AR/VR courses (SI 559/659). Nebeling has held roles such as UIST 2026 General Co-Chair and CHI 2026 Subcommittee Co-Chair. He pioneered the Extended Reality for Everybody Coursera specialization and the XR MOOC series.
