Michael Ndemanu

Dr. Michael Ndemanu is an Associate Professor of Multicultural Education in the Department of Educational Studies at Ball State University, housed within the Teachers College. His work focuses on transformative education, transnational education, and social justice. He previously taught in Cameroon before immigrating to the U.S. in 2006. Dr. Ndemanu is Executive Director of the Global Institute for Transformative Education (GITE), a U.S.-based nonprofit enhancing education quality in developing countries. He also serves as Secretary of the International Association of African Educators and holds roles in multiple professional organizations.

Education: Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (Indiana University), M.Ed. in English and Second Language (Langston University), B.A. in English and French (University of Yaoundé 1). He received the 2015 Lee Cooper Core Curriculum Teaching Award from the University of Southern Indiana.

Research Interests: Multicultural education, transformative pedagogy, African American Vernacular English, transnational education, translingual literacy, and peace education. His publications address topics like cultural immersion, teacher education, and social justice in education.

Professional Contributions: Co-convened the 2018 World Conference on Transformative Education in Kenya. His recent work explores global educational practices, pre-service teacher resistance, and culturally responsive pedagogy for immigrant students.
