Dr. Michael Morgan is Professor in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His meteorological research focuses on analysis, diagnosis, prediction, and predictability of mid-latitude and tropical weather systems.
Research specialties include:
- Adjoint-derived forecast sensitivity analysis
- Mid-latitude cyclogenesis mechanisms
- Potential vorticity diagnostics
- Tropical cyclone prediction
Has served in leadership roles including AMS Councilor, UCAR Trustee, and NSF Division Director. Current work develops synoptic interpretations of adjoint sensitivity fields to improve weather prediction.
