Michael Matthews

Dr. Michael Matthews is a Professor of Management and Director of Healthcare Management at Winthrop University's College of Business and Technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Health Services Administration from the University of Alabama-Birmingham, a Master of Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina, and a B.S. in Healthcare Management and Marketing from Appalachian State University.

His research focuses on healthcare management, organizational behavior, and healthcare systems optimization. He has published in journals including the International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Journal of Healthcare Management, and Healthcare Management Review. He teaches courses such as HCMT300: The Health Care Manager, emphasizing practical applications of management principles in healthcare settings.

Dr. Matthews leads the Healthcare Management program and contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives in healthcare policy and leadership development. His academic work bridges theoretical research and real-world healthcare challenges.
