About
Michael Lerch is a Senior Professor at the University of Wollongong, Deputy Director of the Centre for Medical Radiation Physics (CMRP), and Associate Dean of Research for the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences. He holds a PhD in solid state physics and was an NHMRC Post Doctoral Fellow (1999-2003).
His research applies semiconductor physics to radiation medicine, developing real-time solid-state radiation dosimetry systems with millimeter spatial resolution. His work focuses on optimizing radiation medicine through engineered nano-ceramics and semiconductor devices across photon and charged particle radiation fields.
Professor Lerch has published over 250 journal articles and supervised more than 45 higher-degree research students. His research in Medical Physics is ranked well above world standard by the Australian Research Council.
