Michael Kron

Michael A. Kron, MD, is a tenured Professor of Medicine and Director in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). He holds affiliations with Froedtert Hospital and Sargeant Health Center, specializing in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine. His clinical expertise includes treating tropical and global health-related infections, such as parasitic diseases and antibiotic-resistant pathogens.

Dr. Kron's education includes a Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University and a Master’s in Clinical Tropical Medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He completed fellowships in Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. His research focuses on tropical medicine, parasitic infections (e.g., Schistosoma, Brugia, Treponema), antimicrobial resistance, and global health collaboration with institutions in Asia, Africa, and South America. He also contributes to medical education initiatives, including curriculum development in Iraq and interdisciplinary biochemistry training programs.

His research spans multiple disciplines, including protein structure analysis, drug development for parasitic diseases, and molecular diagnostics. He collaborates with the MCW Biotechnology Center and Marquette University’s Biomedical Engineering department. His clinical interests include diabetic foot infections, prosthetic joint infections, and tropical disease diagnosis.

Kron is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease, and his work emphasizes bridging global health challenges through academic partnerships and science diplomacy. His contributions to medical education extend to improving healthcare systems in underserved regions.
