Prof. Dr. Michael Joner is a W3 Professor of Early Phase Clinical Trials at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), leading the Department of Structural Heart Diseases at the German Heart Center Munich. His research focuses on developing molecular intravascular imaging catheters and evaluating innovative treatments for coronary artery disease. He completed his medical studies and dissertation on integrin regulation in heart failure at Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg, followed by a cardiovascular pathology fellowship under Prof. Virmani in Washington, D.C.
Research interests include translational medicine, stent pathophysiology, and atherosclerosis mechanisms. Key publications address drug-eluting stent safety, anti-restenosis therapies, and imaging technologies like OCT. Awards include EuroIntervention's Best Section Editor (2021-2022) and Young Investigator Award (CRT Congress 2013).
