Michael J. E. Sternberg

Professor Michael J. E. Sternberg is a Professor of Structural Bioinformatics and Director of the Centre for Integrative Systems Biology and Bioinformatics (CISBIO) at Imperial College London's Faculty of Natural Sciences. He leads interdisciplinary research combining experimentation and computational modelling to address complex biological problems.

Research focuses on protein structure/function prediction, macromolecular interactions, genetic variant impact analysis, systems biology network models, and logic-based drug design. His work integrates physics, computing, and biology, supported by grants from the Royal Society, Rolls Royce, and the Medical Research Council.

Education: D.Phil in Biophysics (Oxford), MSc Computing (Imperial College), BSc Physics (Cambridge). Joined Imperial College in 2001 after roles at Oxford, Birkbeck College, and Cancer Research UK.
