Michael Herman

Michael Herman is a leading clinical urologist at Mount Sinai-South Nassau Community Hospital, where he serves as Chief of Urology and Director of Urology. He has pioneered the development of clinical investigational projects in urology and established SNCH as a center of excellence in urological services. His work focuses on robotic surgery and improving patient outcomes through innovative clinical practices.

Research Interests: Dr. Herman’s expertise spans robotic urological surgery, prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment, continence recovery after prostatectomy, and advanced imaging techniques like multiparametric MRI. He has conducted translational studies using multiphoton microscopy to enhance surgical outcomes and investigated resource utilization in robotic prostatectomy programs. His clinical research includes nodal staging scores for prostate cancer, diabetes-related biochemical recurrence, and renal function post-surgery.

Publications reflect his focus on prostate cancer, ureteroscopic biopsy, continence recovery, and cost-effectiveness of robotic procedures.

Research Experience includes fellowships at Weill Cornell Medical College in urology and public health, as well as contributions to community health initiatives and vascular biology research at Harvard and Mt. Sinai.
