Michael Frank

Michael Frank serves as Professor of Media Informatics at HTWK Leipzig's Faculty of Computer Science and Media, where he has been a faculty member since 2003. He currently holds the position of Chair of the Computer Science Examination Board and serves on the Faculty Council F IM. Previously, he was Dean of Studies for Media Informatics (2012-2018) and Chairman of the Computer Science Examination Board (2006-2012).

His educational background includes a mathematics diploma from Moscow State University "MV Lomonosov" (1979-1984), doctorate in Operator Algebras and Noncommutative Geometry (1988), and habilitation in the same field (1997). Prior to HTWK Leipzig, he worked at University of Leipzig's Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science (1984-2000) and served as Assistant Professor at University of Houston (1998).

Professor Frank specializes in human-machine interaction, multimedia web development, document description languages, and cross-media production. His teaching portfolio spans multiple degree programs including Fundamentals of Computer Science, Electronic Publishing, Multimedia Web Programming, and Human Computer Interaction. He also maintains an active research interest in Hilbert C* modules as a scholarly pursuit beyond his primary responsibilities.
