Michael Finewood is an Associate Professor and Department Chairperson in the Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences at Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, Pace University. As a human geographer and political ecologist, Michael Finewood's research explores the intersection of society and nature, focusing on urban stormwater governance, green infrastructure, and climate change adaptation. His work emphasizes equity, justice, and community-based environmental management. He also conducts interview-based studies on how farmers perceive and respond to a changing climate.
His professional service includes active membership in key academic and environmental organizations. He serves on the board of the Hudson River Watershed Alliance and holds the position of Secretary in the Association of Environmental Studies and Sciences. He is also a member of the American Association of Geographers.
Michael teaches a diverse array of undergraduate courses such as Environmental Justice, Climate Change, Environmental Anthropology, and research methods seminars. He contributes significantly to student mentorship through the Senior Year Experience and Mentoring Seminar, guiding students in capstone research projects.
