Associate Professor · Cancer cell signaling
State University of New York at BuffaloAbout
Michael Feigin, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Oncology in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. He also serves as the Director of the Experimental Therapeutics Graduate Program, leading both research and academic training initiatives. His lab, the Feigin Lab, is dedicated to uncovering the molecular underpinnings of cancer through integrative computational and experimental approaches.
- PhD in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology – State University of New York at Stony Brook, 2007
- Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cancer Biology – Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, 2017
Dr. Feigin's research centers on gene regulatory alterations and G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling in cancer. His work investigates how noncoding mutations and processes like alternative polyadenylation (APA) drive oncogenic gene expression in pancreatic, breast, and melanoma cancers. He explores how dysregulated cell signaling networks contribute to tumor progression and therapy resistance.
His recent publications highlight a strong trend in understanding transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation in cancer, particularly APA’s role in shaping tumor heterogeneity and response to therapies. His studies also examine the unintended consequences of GPCR-targeting drugs on cancer phenotypes, opening new avenues for drug safety and repurposing.
- Selected as Science Editor’s Choice
- Recognized in PNAS Weekly Highlights
Dr. Feigin actively mentors graduate and undergraduate students and leads a dynamic research team. He has secured significant research output with publications in top journals such as Nature Genetics, Science Advances, and Genome Research. His lab utilizes advanced models including organoids and 3D cell cultures to study cancer biology in a physiologically relevant context.
