Michael F. Stanislawski is the Nathan J. Miller Professor of Jewish History, Literature and Institutions at Columbia University. He has held significant leadership roles including Director Emeritus of the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies and chair of the interdepartmental Yiddish Studies program.

His research spans modern Jewish history, Russian history, and European intellectual history. He has published extensively on topics such as Zionism, Jewish identity, and cultural intersections in Eastern Europe.
His recent publications analyze the evolution of Jewish nationalism, autobiographical narratives, and historical case studies like the 1892 Lemberg murder. Current work focuses on diaries as historical sources in Jewish historiography.
He has directed multiple academic programs including Contemporary Civilization and Human Rights, shaping Columbia's interdisciplinary Jewish Studies curriculum.
