Michael E. Flatté

Michael E. Flatté is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Iowa, where he has served since 1995. He also holds an adjunct professorship at the Department of Applied Physics, Eindhoven University of Technology.

His research pioneers spin-based phenomena with emphases on optical/electrical control of spin dynamics in materials, novel spintronic device architectures, quantum sensor development, and solid-state quantum computation platforms. These interdisciplinary efforts bridge condensed matter physics, quantum information science, and materials engineering to enable next-generation computing and sensing technologies.
