About
Dr. Michael Dunne serves as a Lecturer at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) while holding a Research Associate position at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) since 2013. He teaches core plasma physics courses including Plasma Physics I, Plasma Physics II, Theoretical Hydrodynamics, and Magnetohydrodynamics in collaboration with senior faculty members.
His research focuses on plasma dynamics in fusion environments, specifically:
- Creation and analysis of Tokamak equilibria
- Transport phenomena and stability at plasma edges
- Development of high confinement regimes for reactor applications
- Interactions between plasma edge behavior and overall plasma performance
Dr. Dunne actively participates in academic knowledge dissemination through university internships, public events, conferences, workshops, and seminars. His teaching methodology integrates advanced theoretical concepts with real-world plasma physics applications, preparing students for careers in fusion research and related engineering fields.
