Michael Duncan is the Raymond G. Thorpe Professor in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at Cornell University's College of Engineering. He joined the Cornell faculty in 1990 after working at AT&T Bell Laboratories from 1980-1990, where he became a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff in 1986.
His educational background includes:
- B.S. from the University of Michigan (1975)
- M.S. from the California Institute of Technology (1977)
- Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology (1980)
Professor Duncan's research spans Chemical Engineering and Biomolecular Engineering with particular focus on process engineering and materials science. His teaching excellence has been recognized through numerous awards across multiple decades, reflecting his deep commitment to engineering education and student development.
His scientific achievements have been recognized with these major awards:
- Tau Beta Pi / Cornell Society of Engineers Award for Teaching Excellence (1997, 2008, 2013)
