About
Michael Duffy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of New Brunswick. His research focuses on parasitology, specifically examining parasites affecting wildlife and aquacultured fish. Current projects integrate parasite diversity, ecology of wildlife parasitism, infection mechanisms, epidemiology, host responses, and diagnostic tools development.
Research interests center on:
- Invasive parasites in American eels
- Ectoparasitic lice on Atlantic salmon
- Zebrafish as model hosts for immune response studies
Courses taught include Genetic Analysis Laboratory, Immunobiology, Marine Research Experience, and Biology of Marine Parasites. Research employs both morphological and molecular approaches to investigate host-parasite dynamics in aquatic environments.
