Michael Donald Bailey is a Professor and former Chair of the School of Cybersecurity and Privacy (SCP) at Georgia Institute of Technology, part of the College of Computing. Previously, he served as a Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and as a Research Associate Professor at the University of Michigan. His research focuses on the security, performance, and availability of distributed systems, with over 90 scholarly publications. He has led initiatives to expand cybersecurity education, including new undergraduate threads and professional master’s programs at Georgia Tech. Bailey’s industry experience includes roles at Arbor Networks, where he managed teams protecting internet traffic from DDoS attacks, and three startups. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and ACM.
