Michael Davidson

Michael Davidson is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Applied Social and Policy Sciences, Ulster University. He joined the Criminology team in 2016 and specializes in law enforcement, counter-terrorism, and leadership training. He currently directs the BSc (Hons) Criminology and Criminal Justice (Applied Practice) program for Criminal Justice Sector professionals and oversees online courses like the Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and Deep Dark Web programs. He also serves as Subject Partnership Manager for five external Criminal Justice Sector programs.

• Education: BA in Leadership and Management (Dundee University) and Terrorism studies at St Andrews University.

His research focuses on extremist ideologies, law enforcement training design, and practical applications of learning in workplaces. With 30+ years in law enforcement, he has expertise in creating accredited CPD training programs and collaborative partnerships.

Awarded Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he teaches at undergraduate level and supervises dissertations. His work emphasizes bridging academic theory with real-world criminal justice practice through innovative educational partnerships.
