Dr. Michael Darracq is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and serves as Co-Director of Medical Toxicology at UCSF Fresno. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine, Medical Toxicology, and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Darracq earned his BS from the University of California, San Diego, and his MD and MPH from the University of California, Davis, followed by residency in Emergency Medicine at UC Davis and a fellowship in Medical Toxicology at UC San Diego.
His research focuses on emergency medicine, medical toxicology, addiction medicine, and wilderness/limited-resource medicine. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications analyzing topics such as opioid-related toxicity, stimulant exposures, poison control, and provider utilization trends. His recent work explores epidemiology of venomous bites and toxicological education in emergency medicine.
Dr. Darracq’s publications reveal a strong emphasis on Emergency Medicine and Toxicology, with subfields addressing substance-related disorders, pediatric toxicology, and public health implications of poisonings. His studies often utilize data from the National Poison Data System (NPDS) to inform clinical guidelines.
