Michael DAENEN

Michael DAENEN is a Full Professor at Hasselt University within the Faculty of Industrial Engineering Sciences and the Department of Industrial Engineering Sciences. He leads the Engineering Materials and Applications Research Group and is affiliated with the Institute for Materials Research. His academic roles include chairing examination committees for Master's programs in Energy and Electromechanics.

• Research Focus: Renewable Energy, Solar Energy, Photovoltaics, Semiconductor Materials, Materials Physics, and Electronics Reliability.
• Teaching: Courses on Advanced Photovoltaics, Electrical Machines, Electromagnetism, Sustainability, and Innovation in Materials Technology.

His work involves 30 research projects (2015–2027) related to photovoltaic systems, perovskite solar cells, stretchable electronics, and energy transition technologies. He supervises 19 PhD students in topics like thermo-mechanical failure in PV modules, Agri-PV designs, and PID degradation analysis.
