Dr. Michael Brisbois is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at MacEwan University, where he has taught since 2010. He holds a PhD from the University of Calgary, an MA from the University of Northern British Columbia, and a BA from the same institution. His teaching focuses on literary analysis and practical learning methodologies, emphasizing transparency and dynamism in both in-person and online environments. Dr. Brisbois specializes in using new media and video content to engage students in online instruction.
His research explores utopian/dystopian impulses in 20th-century British literature, with a particular focus on authors like J.R.R. Tolkien, W.B. Yeats, T.S. Eliot, and W.H. Auden. He examines how literature expresses millenarianism and societal visions of the future.
