Professor Michael Ashfold holds the position of Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Bristol's School of Chemistry since 1992. His roles include Head of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry (1995–1997, 2002–2011) and EPSRC Senior Research Fellow (1997–2002). He has also served as Visiting Fellow at the University of Colorado's JILA (1990) and held visiting positions at institutions globally.
His research focuses on molecular spectroscopy, plasma diagnostics for diamond CVD, and pulsed laser ablation techniques.
