Michael Altman is an Assistant Professor of Practice and Program Director of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Meredith College's School of Business. With over 20 years of experience in hospitality, tourism, and marketing, he co-founded Trialogue Studio, a branding firm serving organizations like Marbles Kids Museum and Visit Raleigh. He previously held leadership roles at the Smithsonian Institution and IMAX Corporation.
Academically, Altman teaches full-time at Meredith since 2019 and has adjunct experience at Georgetown University and George Washington University. He earned an M.S. in Hospitality and Tourism from Rochester Institute of Technology and a B.A. in Sociology from York University.
His research focuses on hospitality innovation, destination marketing, and community placemaking. Notable work includes analyzing food halls' socio-economic impacts and addressing gender disparities in live poker participation.
